Abelia × grandiflora ' Sherwoodii' is a compact shrub that grows to about three to three and a half feet tall by four to four and a half feet wide. It is hardy in USDA Zones 5 - 9. It is best grown in full sun to promote more flowering, but can also grow in part shade. Moist but well drained soil is recommended.

This cultivar is known for the following traits. It is a compact and dense shrub with leaves that are smaller and more refined than the species (Abelia × grandiflora). Leaves turn purple-green in the winter. It is not as floriferous as other cultivars, such as 'Rose Creek'.

Reversion may occur (branches that do not have the same characteristics as the rest of the plant), which should be pruned out.
